| The Carolyn Hauer International Fund is a fund dedicated to promoting internationalism within the Association of Moving Image Archivists.
Background
This fund has been
named in honor of the late Carolyn Hauer
who has been described as knowing something
about every country in the world. Carolyn loved
helping persons transport their curiosity,
minds and souls to these locations, especially
those seen as “falling off the map.” To her, the world owes much to Paris, but also a great deal to Samarkand, Lima, Reykjavik and Ulan Bator. People live rich, sometimes desperate lives in New York, Sydney and London, but also in Elko, Corfu, Kathmandu, Nanty Glo, Patagonia and Antananarivo. Indeed, the bulwark and bright spire for every individual is a different, unique place. Each tucked-away corner of the Earth intrigued Carolyn, and she hoped a tableaux of each could be maintained, firmly believing every town, province, parish and region contributes a vital strand to the complex design of the world’s
historical tapestry. It is hoped that this
fund will help imbuing the audiovisual
portion of this tapestry with vibrantly rich,
fantastic, flowing colors and scenes.
Purpose
This fund was established
in 2004 to: Award non-profit institutional
AMIA memberships and AMIA Newsletter subscriptions

the Association (i.e. countries outside of

Oceania).
Provide financial assistance to AMIA Conference Panelists from emerging nations to attend the AMIA Annual Conference (i.e. countries outside of the US, Canada, Western Europe, Japan and Oceania).
Each year that funding is available, a total of between $3,000.00 USD and $5,000.00 USD will be used for these purposes. Awards to panelists will range from $500.00 to $1,000.00
