The James A. Lindner Prize, based on endowments established from 2002 onwards, is awarded jointly by the South East Asia Pacific Audio Visual Archives Association (SEAPAVAA), The Association for Moving Image Archivists (AMIA), and the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA). The Prize is awarded to an individual, group of individuals or an organization for research, which by its originality, breadth and scope, is having or may potentially have a major impact on the technology of the preservation of moving images and/or recorded sound. The Prize recognizes and rewards outstanding contributions to research in the field of the technology of preservation of moving images and recorded sound. The research or achievement for which the award is made must be:
As a technology prize, it is not intended to be awarded for contributions in other areas, such as content or artistic achievement. It will not be biased by media type either physical or electronic and is envisaged to incorporate the preservation of moving images and/or recorded sound and any other sensory based technology in its widest possible definition for the widest possible application. Applicants/Nominations for the prize may be individuals, groups of individuals, organizations, or corporations. Strong preference will be given to those who have not previously received the award. The Prize is a certificate accompanied by a cash amount. The 2008 James A. Lindner Prize will be presented at the 2008 AMIA Annual Conference in Savannah, Georgia, USA. Download the 2008 James A.
