AMIA's Festival of the Archives
AMIA's Festival of the Archives celebrates the work done by media archives in their efforts to preserve history and cultural heritage. The festival offers attendees quality films that highlight preservation and restoration efforts a wide spectrum of archival materials - feature films, documentaries, animation, historical footage, and commercial video.
The festival's mission is to promote to the public the work done by moving image archives in their efforts to preserve history and cultural heritage. Produced in partnership with the SIFF, the festival will reach out to members to showcase collections of all types. By programming classic favorites with historical footage, trailers, newsreels and other archival materials, AMIA's Festival of the Archives will offer a blend of archival media and a unique opportunity to educate the public about the role of archivists in preserving our audiovisual heritage.
The money raised through Festival of the Archives will go to fund AMIA's programs - The Moving Image, awards, website, conference and other events.
The inagural Festival of the Archives was held December 6-9, 2012 in Seattle, Washington.
