AMIA provides an opportunity for a diverse array of professionals, students, and friends of the field, to meet, share information and work together. For newcomers to this vibrant, dynamic, and committed community, networking with other AMIA members and industry professionals is an invaluable introduction.
If you’re interested in audiovisual preservation and access, AMIA has a number of ways you can participate at whatever level you choose - through our events, online discussion forums, publications and as a part of one of AMIA’s many Committees.
The AMIA Forums are intended to facilitate discussion among AMIA members and professions in the field in a wide variety of subjects. While AMIA non-members are welcome, some areas of the Forums are reserved for AMIA members and committees.
AMIA-L: An Online Forum for Moving Image Archivists Listserv
AMIA-L is an e-mail discussion list sponsored by the Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA). It is intended to facilitate communication among AMIA members and professionals in related disciplines interested in issues relevant to the association, to archival issues involving all aspects of moving image materials and moving image archives, and to any related technologies or special interests of the profession.
Consider joining one of AMIA’s Committees – there are always a number of interesting projects underway. AMIA is a volunteer based organization – our projects rely on work done by members in the field.
In addition to our Annual Conference [link to AMIAConference.com], AMIA hosts a number of other events throughout the year.
Publications include AMIA's journal The Moving Image, the quarterly AMIA Newsletter, and the AMIA Tech Review.
