The AMIA Newsletter

The AMIA Newsletter is published quarterly by the Association of Moving Image Archivists. It provides up-to-date information about the association and its activities, as well as news from archives and other organizations the field, including collection acquisitions, preservation and restoration projects, grants and awards, conferences and special events, and job announcements and personnel transitions. The newsletter also features regular columns and features, book reviews, and information about new technologies, publications and resources of interest to moving image archivists.

Submissions . The AMIA Newsletter welcomes news items from AMIA members and non-members. Please send submissions via email if possible. Word (or equivalent) attachments with the text copied into the body of the email are preferred. Photos are always welcome. Please send material to

Subscriptions . Non-AMIA member subscriptions to the AMIA Newsletter are available to libraries at a cost of $50 per year. Subscribers are not listed in the annual AMIA Membership Directory. To become a subscriber to the Newsletter, please complete the appropriate sections of the AMIA Membership Application Form.

All back issues of the printed AMIA Newsletter are available for purchase and many are availabale to Members electronically.

The AMIA Conference Committee is a Committee of the Board. It is responsible for developing the content of each year's conference as well as for the planning of the annual event. In coordination with the Steering Committee, fellow committees, and the AMIA Office, this includes  scheduling conference sessions, conference events, workshops, and vendor relations.

Volunteer Opportunities
The Conference Committee welcomes individuals who are interested in volunteering their time to participate in the conference planning process. Interested individuals must have regular access to email. Committee work relies heavily upon email and telephone communication during all stages of the planning process. The Steering Committee is made up of members of the Board, the Conference Committee and the office and provides a mechanism for long-term planning for the conference through discussion and recommendations to the Board. The Steering Committee is also responsible for finalizing conference streams and plenary sessions.
